A Little About Our Company: J. H. West Seafood, Inc. originated 35 plus years ago from a long family history in the seafood industry. The business called the small seaside fishing village known as 'Oyster' home until January 2007. A new state of the art facility was built nearby in 'Townsend' to accommodate the growing business. It features the most efficient methods of shell stock processing. At the new facility we receive, grade, shuck, pack and ship various shell stock. The former 'Oyster' plant was transformed into a clam hatchery. It is here clams are spawned and kept in growing tanks to develop into seed, then moved to nursery waters until they reach adequate planting size. Seed is then transferred to local clam beds. Upon reaching market size, clams are harvested and taken directly to the grading facility and processed for shipment. |
In January 2007 we also launched a full service restaurant and seafood retail market adjacent to the processing plant.
