J. H. West Seafood, Inc. grows, harvests and sells farm raised live hard shell clams (Mercenaria-Mercenaria). These clams are graded and packed in their original form. There are no ingredients or additives used in our grading and packing process.
Our company only harvests from company owned and maintained harvest grounds. These locations are inspected regularly by the local Shellfish Sanitation division of the Virginia Health Department.
All incoming product is received by plant personnel, temperature recorded and then tagged with Harvester, Harvest Location, Lot Number and Product Count to ensure accurate trace-ability and quality assurance.

In addition to recording temperature for incoming shell stock we also record temperature and visually inspect trucks for all outgoing shipments. Our product moves from a temperature regimented cooler directly onto refrigerated trucks, there is never an instance when product is out of temperature control while under J. H. West Seafood's authority.
J. H. West Seafood, Inc. keeps the facility in compliance with all FDA and Department of Shellfish Sanitation regulations. All employees practice SAFE, SANITARY operations and are trained on HACCP, Sanitation, Hygiene, Food Safety, Workplace Safety, and other SOP's as deemed necessary.
